As one of the premier watersports destinations in the country and the pioneer of East Coast surfing, it’s a natural place to hold surfing competitions and stand up paddleboard events. There are pro-am surf fests attracting all levels of surfers. Professionals compete in a stand up paddleboard and surfing pro-am tournament with the largest prize purse on the East Coast. The Carolina Cup, held every spring, was crowned as one of the world’s five major stand up paddleboard races.
