Take a Moment on the Beach

Venture out to the nearby beach for a front-seat view of the sunrise. Stroll along the shoreline, collect seashells with the family and cool off in the waves – a walk on the beach will never be boring.

On your stroll, take part in a long-lasting tradition and write a letter to leave in the Wrightsville Beach Mailbox. Located on the north end of the beach, the box is frequently stocked with paper and pens so visitors can write anything from vacation memories to heartfelt stories.

Visitors can also take a walk along Johnnie Mercers Pier. The only concrete fishing pier in the state of North Carolina, Johnnie Mercers Pier extends more than 1,200 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, providing a 360-degree view of the island and water surrounding it. The small fee is worth it for these picturesque sights.

Travel Back in Time

Get a taste of 19th-century beach culture at the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History. The museum is located in Myers Cottage, a charming Southern house that houses a number of exhibits and artifacts. Be sure to inspect the scale model of Wrightsville Beach from 1910 to see how much the island has changed and check out the original Wrightsville Beach mailbox. Feel free to sit back and relax on the cottage’s front porch following your tour.

Create the Perfect Picnic

Find the ideal setting for your Wrightsville Beach lunchtime picnic. For a beachside setting, pack up some sandwiches and fresh fruit, lay a blanket in the sand and enjoy that ocean breeze. Or, take a break from the sun at Harbor Way Gardens. Bring your lunch to the fountain and find a nearby picnic bench in the shade.

Meet your Fitness Goal

Get your daily steps and exercise in on The Loop, a 2.45-mile sidewalk trail that runs alongside the Intercoastal Waterway and salt marshes. There is no better way to experience the natural beauty of Wrightsville Beach. For a small dose of history, check out historical facts and signage along the trail provided by the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History.

Known for its crystal blue waters and spacious beach, Wrightsville Beach is the perfect place to test your watersports skills. From surfing to standup paddleboarding (SUP) or sailing and kayaking, there is no shortage of ways to enjoy Wrightsville Beach’s waterways while improving your fitness. Bring your own gear or rent it from one of the affordable local outfitters on the island.

Dance your Heart Out

Hang out with friends, family and other travelers at any of Wrightsville Beach’s seasonal live music performances. The Oceanic Summer Music Series takes place on Crystal Pier, offering a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. Artists perform every Friday and Sunday, so grab an app to share and be ready to dance along!
