The days ahead are merry and bright, especially in Wrightsville Beach! Whether you’re here for festive events, seasonal activities or just a sunny holiday escape, this little island packs plenty of holiday fun.
Christmas Lights All Around
Kick off the season at Wrightsville Beach Park on Nov. 28 at 5:30 p.m. for the Annual Holiday Kick Off and Tree Lighting Ceremony. Bundle up in your coziest sweater to watch the tree sparkle, listen to carolers and live music, sip hot cocoa and say hi to Santa.
After, drive (or walk) around to see the creative displays from the town’s Holiday Decorating Contest, featuring everything from classic lights to over-the-top holiday scenes. Check the Town of Wrightsville Beach website for past winners and must-see streets. Once you’ve made your rounds, settle in for a seasonal seafood feast at King Neptune, right behind last year’s Most Traditional winner.
Don’t miss Enchanted Airlie at Airlie Gardens Nov. 28 to Dec. 21 – a beloved holiday tradition and fundraiser that sells out fast! Grab a cup of hot cocoa and stroll past illuminated sculptures, trees and displays. Pro tip: Add the Enchanted Airlie Package at Lumina on Wrightsville Beach for guaranteed tickets and round-trip transportation.
For a quieter evening, head to Harbor Way Gardens along The Loop to see festive lights, local art and native plants, plus wreaths and decorations all around town (courtesy of the Harbor Island Garden Club).
Holiday Flotilla Fun
Get into the coastal holiday spirit at the NC Holiday Flotilla at Wrightsville Beach on Nov. 29! Start at the Day at the Park festival at Wrightsville Beach Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where you’ll find local eats, bounce houses and an antique car show. Then, stick around for the main event: the lighted boat parade. Watch dozens of holiday-themed boats cruise around the island, and text to cast your vote for the People’s Choice and Crowd Favorite awards. Don’t miss festive fireworks to round out the evening!
Pro tip: Plan to park at Wrightsville Beach Park before the drawbridge opens at 6 p.m., and check out this map for the best spots to watch the parade.
Coastal Treasures & Gifts
It’s never too early (or late!) for holiday shopping. Stop by Hallelu Boutique for chic gifts, or pop into a surf shop for skate or surf gear. Redix, Inc., a local favorite since 1969, has everything from high-end coolers and fishing gear to designer clothes and accessories, while Lumina Station over the bridge offers a mix of locally owned boutiques, cafés and restaurants.
If handmade gifts are your thing, reserve a spot at Trailborn Surf & Sound’s holiday ornament painting on select Saturdays beginning in late November. Paint an ornament or two, sip hot cocoa and leave with the perfect gift for someone special.
Festive Flavors
From cozy bites to yuletide cocktails, Wrightsville Beach has you covered. Try coastal Italian fare at La Duna Paradiso or Southern comfort food from 22 North. Want to skip the kitchen this year? Book a Christmas Eve table at Bluewater Waterfront Grill or Oceanic Restaurant and enjoy a seasonal meal with ocean views.
New Year Celebrations
Ring in 2026 at Bluewater’s New Year’s Eve Bash along the Intracoastal Waterway. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., dance to live music, munch on complimentary bar bites and toast the new year from a waterfront balcony. This event is for those ages 21 and up. Advance dinner reservations make the night extra special (and party tickets sell fast!), so be sure to plan ahead.
Feeling extra bold? Take the plunge at the annual Plunging into the New Year, when brave souls dive into the Atlantic from Wrightsville Beach Accesses #36 and #37. If you’d rather stay dry, cheer from the shore or Crystal Pier, then head to Oceanic Restaurant’s epic and delicious after-party.
Holiday Lodging Packages
Whether you’re after a resort stay or a cozy beach rental, Wrightsville Beach makes holiday getaways easy. Trailborn Surf & Sound has a few festive offers, including the 2-night NC Holiday Flotilla Package, while Lumina on Wrightsville Beach keeps the magic going with Holiday Cheer rates that last through the new year.
With festive events, cozy stays and plenty of coastal charm, Wrightsville Beach is the perfect place to soak up some holiday cheer by the sea.
