Annual Festivals

This festival celebrates the island’s diverse and delicious fare on and around the beach with more than 35 food, wine and beer tasting booths under a huge tent outside Bluewater Waterfront Grill. Celebrity judges rate dishes, and participants get the chance to select the People’s Choice Dish.
There may be no better way to get into the holiday spirit than by celebrating coastal-style with the island’s annual NC Holiday Flotilla at Wrightsville Beach. It kicks off with a tree lighting, followed by plenty of festive activities, local food and the star of the show: the flotilla. Boats of all sizes parade along the Intracoastal Waterway, adorned with elaborate and festive lights.
Seasonal Bops
Stop by Bluewater Waterfront Grill for their Summer Patio Sessions to enjoy an afternoon cocktail and live music every Sunday April through September from 4-8 p.m. Sip on a (Not Too) Spicy Margarita or a Calypso Cooler and stay for dinner to watch the sun set as boats cruise by along the Intracoastal Waterway and an acoustic band strums some relaxing tunes. Bluewater offers delicious fare like Crab Mac and Cheese, an NC-Style Calabash Platter and NY Strip Streak that makes for a perfect feast on the water.
Stay close to the beach while you enjoy cocktails, eats and live music with Oceanic’s Summer Music Series every Thursday and Sunday April through September from 6-9 p.m. Wrightsville Beach’s only oceanfront standalone restaurant, Oceanic boasts 475 feet of covered al fresco dining space on its pier, where you can smell the salt in the breeze and catch a striking view of the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy drinks with your coastal cuisine set to the peaceful melodies from local bands.

The fun doesn’t have to end just because summer does. Though the days may be shorter and quieter, these tunes are sure to keep the vibes high. The Palm Room has been a staple of the island since the 1950s and today hosts live music from touring bands to local musicians. Jimmy’s at Wrightsville Beach is a popular local hangout spot due to the local and regional bands that grace its stage on a regular basis.
